What is it?
Thermo-Shock involves freezing your body's fat off with the assistance of heat. By alternating between heat and cold during a treatment session fat loss is accelerated. More specifically, Thermo-Shock utilizes controlled hypothermic temperatures in conjunction with controlled hyperthermic stimulation in a dynamic and sequential manner to facilitate treatment. Thermo-Shock is delivered by a compact cryo and shock diathermy generator specially designed for wellness and aesthetics known as the CRYO T-SHOCK; it is the most innovative and versatile device for the treatment of localized fat and cellulite reduction, “orange skin”, thermo-shock drainage and anti-aging treatment.
How Does Thermo-Shock Work?
Cryo T-Shock reduces fatty deposits by using extreme cold to constrict the blood vessels, ultimately causing the death of fat cells, and heat to dilate blood vessels, aiding in the clearing away of deceased cells and waste. To be more scientific, it is a non-invasive treatment of adipose tissue to induce lipolysis - the breaking down of fat cells - to reduce body fat without damage to other tissues.
Thermo-Shock consists of a specially developed technique whereby heat and cold are used and applied directly to the client’s skin. Directly under the skin lies subcutaneous fat cells, which are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cold than other surrounding tissue. Exposure to extreme cooling causes fat cell apoptosis – a natural, controlled cell death, which leads to the release of cytokines and other inflammatory mediators that gradually eliminate the affected cells. Inflammatory cells gradually digest the affected fat cells in the months after the procedure, reducing the thickness of the fat layer. Lipids from the fat cells are slowly released and transported by the lymphatic system to be processed & eliminated.
Unlike weight-loss surgery (e.g., gastric bypass), this procedure is not a weight-loss solution for people who are obese.
Thermal Shock is specially designed for those who have unwanted fat in targeted areas.
How Does Thermo-Shock Target Fat Differently Than Competitors?
Cryo T Shock utilizes a Thermo-Shock procedure that is fundamentally different from any other non- or minimally invasive modalities. Other methods of fat removal primarily involve necrotic cell death that occurs by damaging fat with heat, high-intensity focused ultrasound or chemical injections. Each approach poses potential technical challenges, particularly with respect to targeting the right tissue depth and unintended damage to other structures close to or within the fat layer. Predictability of efficacy using these other techniques is also uncertain. In contrast, the Thermo-Shock procedure uses cryogenic freezing (followed by heat) to induce apoptosis only in fat cells to gently and gradually reduce the fat layer while preserving all other tissue.
What can I expect during a Thermo-Shock treatment session?
You and your CYS specialist will discuss your chosen targeted treatment area. A massage table is present for you to find a comfortable position to receive treatment. Clothing may be altered or removed to expose your chosen the treatment site; there will be a sheet available to cover any unnecessary skin exposure, similar to how a massage therapist exposes minimal amounts of the body during a massage. The treatments are executed manually through a slow massage over the selected area with the device. Each session will begin with clean skin followed by a light Cyro T-Shock gel application (one that is specifically designed by Pagani for T-Shock treatments). The session will then start with heat, initially warming the tissue, followed by cold, killing unwanted fat tissue. It is a non-invasive and painless treatment that many say feels like a light massage. You have the choice to relax to soothing music, watch a show of your choosing, and or visit with your CYS specialist who is performing the treatment. Your CYS specialist will be following MEDICAL PROTOCOL to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved. Session length is dependent upon the type of treatment you have selected, ranging from 40 minutes (e.g., body contouring) to 20 minutes (e.g., facials).
What Are The Benefits?
Clinical studies have shown that thermal-shock technology naturally destroys fat cells, but as with most techniques, results vary from person to person. The expected effect is usually rapid: part of the fat cells are destroyed during the session while most will be eliminated within 2 to 3 weeks. It has also been proven to help with micro-circulation and a significant increase in collagen.
Is The Cryo T-Shock Safe?
The device is very safe. In terms of programming and electronics, it is managed by a computerized Windows system. The cooling system is controlled by an electronic temperature sensor located in the processing head of the device and the temperature is controlled in real-time by the machine and figures are subsequently displayed on the screen, which is monitored by a certified operator and CYS specialist. Cryo T-Shock was created in 2014 and hundreds of units have been sold throughout Europe with thousands of people experiencing Thermal-Shock treatments, and it is now available here in the United States, in Frisco for you to experience.
What’s The Difference Between The Cryo T-Shock and Other Body Contouring Treatments?
There are other manual cryotherapy machines. But tests and experience have shown that no other machine is currently capable of such dramatic results as the Pagani Cryo T-Shock machine. These results are due to the exchange of hot and cold temperatures that leaves a dramatic effect on the body’s tissues.
How Frequent are the Thermo-Shock Treatments?
Thermo-Shock treatments can be performed once every two weeks and lifting/toning treatments can be performed every 7 days. There is a physiological reason for this: when apoptosis occurs and fat cells die, waste is formed and needs to be eliminated by natural routes (blood, lymphatic system and urine). Metabolism must therefore be allowed to evacuate this waste without overloading the system and this takes time.
Waiting every two weeks ensures that the lymphatic system and kidneys are not overloaded. Results could be comprised by the natural waste cycle and risk clogging of the pathways if the treatment is done less than every 14 days. This does not represent a significant risk, yet could compromise results.
Maximum Number of Areas That Can Be Treated Simultaneously?
Two areas, consisting of one large and one small. Again, this is to not overload the body’s pathways. There is also strong internal cooling of the tissues and the treating of more zones at the same time could cause in extreme cases hypothermia and fatigue.
Who Should Consider This Treatment?
Anyone who is looking for an alternative to liposuction to lose weight, reduce cellulite, tighten aging saggy skin or treat stubborn areas of fat they are looking to remove.
There are contra-indicators for Thermo-Shock treatment and these are listed in detail further down this page. (See Contraindication)
no need for hospitalization or anesthesia
no scars nor long-term markings of the skin
elimination of fat through a natural process
10-60 min session
How Quickly Will I See Results?
The first results are generally visible within a week following the first session. However, it should be noted that the best results appear from 15 days to 3 weeks after the start of treatment and extend for several months after the end of treatment. Generally: Thermal Shock may require 3-5 sessions over several weeks and months to see the best results. Thermo-Shock fat removal sessions are done once every 2 weeks as to allow for proper lymphatic drainage.
How Long Do The Results Last?
Depending on the individual and depending also on their lifestyle and diet, the results last several months or several years. For Cellulite and Skin Tightening an ongoing monthly maintenance schedule is recommended.
Possible Side Effects?
There are generally no side effects apart from the amount you urinate will increase slightly over the 3 days following the treatment along with the appearance of your urine in color. Any localized redness will disappeared after a few hours. In rare cases when localized pain may occur but will dissipate within 2-3 hours. Itching may occur however this is generally due to the reaction of certain cosmetic products used by clients.
What Should I Do Following A Treatment?
A vigorous workout, massage or compression will accelerate the benefits and help the body flush out dead cells and waste.
Themo-Shock is not for everyone. Anyone with the following conditions should not do this treatment!!!
• Severe Raynaud's Syndrome • Very poor circulation • Cancer • Severe Diabetes • Pregnancy • Kidney disease or dialysis • Pregnant women • Severe diabetes • Undergoing chemotherapy • cryoglobulinemia • cold agglutinin disease • paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.
*Thermo-Shock procedure is not a treatment for obesity.
*Thermo-Shock is an elective aesthetic procedure, meaning that it is a voluntary cosmetic treatment.
The Difference Between Fat loss and weight loss
It may be confusing to hear that reducing fat is not the same as losing weight. The difference is what happens to fat cells. Losing weight makes fat cells smaller; it does not make fat cells go away. The number of fat cells in our bodies typically becomes a fixed number sometime in our teenage years. Losing or gaining weight generally does not increase or decrease the number of fat cells. Instead, it changes the size of fat cells.
After dieting and weight loss, fat cells get smaller but the number of fat cells stays the same. When weight is gained, fat cells get bigger. Thermo-Shock destroys fat cells; treatment focus is fat loss, not weight loss.
